The Birth of Dinkhole

Our lively family of eight has a deep-rooted passion for yard games. From classic favorites to lesser-known gems, our collection is extensive, featuring games like Horseshoes, Spikeball, Cornhole, Boardball, Giant Jenga, Bocce Ball, Ladder Toss, Kan-Jam, Kubb, Crossnet, Badminton, Croquet, Yardzee, and many others.
Whether it’s a sunny afternoon or a cool evening, you’ll often find us laughing and competing in our backyard or nearby parks.
“Work Hard, Play Hard. That’s been my parents’ motto since I was young. We do a lot of both.” — Ava Morris
It was on one such lively evening that Jarrod, ever the innovator, decided our living room could use a bit of that outdoor game spirit.

Jarrod brought two cornhole boards inside and, together with the kids, started dinking a pickleball back and forth. The task was daunting, certainly more challenging than any of us anticipated, but the thrill of watching the ball finally drop into the hole was nothing short of magical. Each successful dink brought shouts of joy and applause, filling the room with an electric energy that’s hard to describe.

Our Journey: Idea to Market
This simple, joyous activity sparked an idea that eventually led to the creation of Dinkhole, a game in which every dink and every point brings the magic of that evening into your own home or yard.
It was obvious that a single small hole was a little too challenging to be fun for all ages. At first, Jarrod drew something up with a 10″ hole, but Mandy suggested having multiple holes of various sizes. One of the kids thought the different-size holes should be worth different points, like in Skee Ball. After much debate and many designs, we arrived at the game you see today.
Make it.
We got to work (woodwork) creating a version of the game to play it ourselves.
Name It.
Dinkhole felt like the perfect name, and we were shocked that the domain was available.
Share it.
We played the game with both hardcore pickleballers and greenie dinkers.
Sell it.
The positive feedback reinforced the idea that we had something special and should productize it.
And so we did…
